The A+ Scholarship program provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of A+ designated high schools who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school. Graduates who qualify may be eligible to receive financial assistance with tuition and fees. Many Missouri four-year colleges also offer scholarships for those graduates who qualified for the A+ program. Along with meeting GPA, test scores, and attendance qualifications, students must earn a minumum of 50 hours tutoring peers or younger students. Tutoring can take place before, during, or after school. Students can also earn tutoring hours while participating in the Cadet Teaching class at SSHS. Sikeston R-6 school district received A+ designation in April, 1999. Since then, there have been nearly 600 A+ qualified graduates. The A+ program had 169 tutors participating during the 2018-2019 school year.
