April

  • Deadline: April 1, 2019 . Sikeston Public Schools Credit Union Scholarship . Award is $4000 (8 semesters at $500 each) to a high school student who plans to continue his or her education. Application must be turned in to the SPS Credit Union or Mrs. Thornbrough’s office on or before April 1st. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 1, 2019. Sikeston Rotary Club “Service Above Self” Scholarship. The rotary club will be awarding two (2) awards in the amount of $2500 to two (2) graduating seniors (one male, one female). Criteria for the award: “Service Above Self” in accordance with the rotary motto, academic achievement, excellence in extra-curricular activities, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or adminstrator. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 
  • Deadline: April 1, 2019 . Southeast Region Teachers Association Student Scholarship. For seniors in the southeast region who are members of FTA. Candidate must present evidence of good character, scholarship, an aptitude for college. Student must enroll in a Missouri college or university in preparation for the teaching profession.   • Deadline: April 1, 2019 . Becca’s Closet Scholarship . There are 3 types of non-renewable scholarships available. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage students who have demonstrated outstanding community service in high school to continue their efforts throughout their lives and to inspire others to do the same. The application can be found outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 2, 2019 . Walmart Dependent Scholarship. For students who are dependent of Wal-Mart employees, minimum 2.0 GPA. Apply online at http://programs.applyists.com/walmartdependent/ .
  • Deadline: April 5, 2019 . American Legion Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship . Award is based on athletic, scholastic and leadership abilities. The nominee should be deeply involved in community and school activities. Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. Only one student from our high school can be selected. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 15, 2019. Sikeston High School FCA Scholarship. For seniors who are actively involved in FCA and attend at least 50% of monthly meetings. In addition, students must agree to uphold the values and beliefs associated with FCA, and sign the Statement of Faith. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 
  • Deadline: April 15, 2019 . Legacy Scholarship . To qualify and apply, you must be a current high school senior and/or accepted at or attending an institution of higher education. You must also answer YES to the following 2 statements: a legal parent died while serving on active duty on or after 9/11/01 or a legal parent is a Post-9/11 veteran of the U.S. military who has been given a disability rating of 50% of higher by the Veterans Administration.   • Deadline: April 15, 2019 . 2018 Ava’s Grace Scholarship Foundation Application. This scholarship benefits students who have or have had an incarcerated parent or primary caregiver. Visit avasgrace.org or https://stlouisgraduates.academicworks.com/opportunities/2301 .
  • Deadline: April 15, 2019 . rootED Undergraduate Scholarship . 9 awards will be given out for students graduating from 14 high schools in our area. Award is $10,000 annually. Students must be planning to enroll in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited, nonprofit college or university. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and demonstrate financial need.   • Deadline: April 19, 2019. FTA Cadet Teacher of the Year. For seniors who have completed Cadet Teaching course during this school year. The FTA chapter may nominate only one student from our school. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 
  • Deadline: April 20, 2019 . American Legion Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship . Must be a member of the American Legion Family, i.e., Legion Member, Auxiliary member, S.A.L. Member, or a descendant or any member thereof. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 20, 2019 . American Legion Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship . Must be planning on majoring in education. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 20. 2019 . American Legion Joseph J. Frank Scholarship . Must have attended a full session of Missouri Boys/Girls State, must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 20, 2019 . American Legion Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund . Must have attended Missouri Boys or Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 20, 2019 . American Legion M.D. Jack Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund . Must be planning on a career as a Registered Nurse and must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class. Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
  • Deadline: April 22, 2019 . 2019 Student-View Scholarship Program . $11,000 in scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four year college, community/junior college or career school. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area.
