  1. Deadline: November 27, 2017. 2017 Soil and Water Conservation Society Scholarship. For students wishing to pursue studies with a natural resource conservation orientation at properly accredited college or universities. One $2000 scholarship will be awarded, with the possibility of a second smaller scholarship. Applicants must be a member of the SWCS. Applications can be found online at www.moswcs.org or outside the counselor’s office.  

  2. Deadline: November 27, 2017. The Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four –year scholarship to the highest-rated applicants in the 2017 competition. Applications will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need.   1. Deadline: December 15, 2017. Burger King Scholarship. Application opens October 15th.  For high school seniors who have a GPA of 2.5 and plan to enroll full-time for the 2016-17 academic year at an accredited 2-4 year school.   2. Deadline: December 15, 2017. AXA Achievement Scholarship. The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers college scholarships for $2500, $10,000, and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community, or the workplace.   5. Deadline: December 20, 2017. 2017-18 Optimist International Essay Contest. This year’s topic is “Can Society Function without Respect?” For essay contest rules, pick up an application outside Mrs. Thornbrough’s office.

  6. Deadline: December 20, 2017. Earl Collins Foundation, Kiwanis International Scholarship. For seniors with a minimum ACT of 23. Must show evidence of motivation in the form of a list of extracurricular activities in the areas of leadership, community service, class offices, church activities, Key Club activities and honors received. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  7. Deadline: December 31, 2017. Discover Student Loans Scholarship Award. Now through Dec. 31st eligible senior students and parents can enter to win one of the $2500 scholarships by signing up to receive helpful tips on planning and paying for college at CollegeCovered.com /Assist. There are 40 $2500 scholarships that will be given away.

  8. Deadline: December 31, 2017. Imagine America Scholarship. For seniors who plan to pursue a career and technical education, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, financial need, and demonstrated voluntary community service during senior year. January


1. Deadline: January 31, 2018. $2500 College Raptor Scholarship. To enter this contest, each student
conducts a college search on CollegeRaptor.com that is designed to present college options that match
the student’s individual academic cultural, and financial circumstances in addition to exploring the true
cost of their education. One scholarship will be awarded based on the student’s academic achievements
and essay.
2. Deadline: January 31, 2018. National Multiple Sclerosis Society Scholarship Program. For current high
school seniors who have MS or a parent that has MS and will be attending an accredited postsecondary
school working towards their first undergraduate degree. Go online to apply at

3. Deadline: January 31, 2018 . College Raptor’s $2500 Scholarship. Go to

February

1. Deadline: February 15, 2018 . DAR Scholarships . For a list of scholarships offered by the Daughters of the

2. Deadline: February 16, 2018 . Highway Hero Honoree Scholarship. For seniors graduating in 2018. The
Division 10 Highway Employees’ Credit Union is awarding three $10,000 scholarship to eligible Division
10 members. Qualified applicants meet the following criteria: A member of the Division 10 Highway
Employees’ Credit Union and a current high school senior. If a senior is not currently a Division 10 Credit
Union member, he/she can determine eligibility for membership by visiting our webpage at
www.div10cu.com and viewing the Membership link under the About Us drop down menu. Information
can be found outside the counselor’s office as well.

 

3. Deadline: February 16, 2018 . Missouri Corn Growers Association and Corn Merchandising Council . For
high school seniors and college juniors. Applicants must be Missouri residents from a Missouri farm or
rural area. You must be pursuing a degree in agronomy or a related agriculture field. Application can be

4. Deadline: February 16, 2018 . Fisher House Foundation, Scholarships for Military Children program .
2-page application, minimum 3.0 GPA; must be a dependent of an active military service member,
retired member or a deceased member. Go online to apply at

5. Deadline: February 24, 2018 . Scholarships for Survivors . This is a group of scholarships for current
patients or survivors of cancer or another life-threatening disease, 2 recommendations, transcripts
needed, and essay. Application can be found at http://www.patientadvocate.org/index.php?p=69 .

 

6. Deadline: February 28, 2018 . MAMIC Scholarship . The Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance
Companies is awarding eight $1000 scholarships to Missouri high school seniors. Applicant must be
accepted by an accredited college, university, community college or vocational school within the state of
Missouri. Consideration will be given to need, grades, activities, and essay. Applications are available
outside the counselor’s office.

 

7. Deadline: February 28, 2017 . HSF/Procter & Gamble Company Scholarship . Must be of Hispanic
heritage, be a US citizen or legal permanent resident, minimum 3.0 GPA, major in a science, technology,
engineering or mathematics field, must file a FAFSA. Apply online at

March

1. Deadline: March 9, 2018 . Women Legislators of Missouri Scholarship . For senior girls in Missouri, they
will award eight scholarships, one from each Missouri U.S. Congressional District at $500 each.

2. Deadline: March 9, 2018. 2018 Missouri Bankers Foundation Scholarship . The applicant must be
planning on a major in an area that will lead to a career in banking. You can find the application online at

3. Deadline: March 15, 2018 . William H. Cooper Leadership Scholarship. This is a leadership based
scholarship for undergraduates who desire to further their education in a business related field. One
high school senior, who is a registered students at a participating high school within an First State
Community Bank market, will be selected each spring. Application is available outside the counselor’s
office or you can go online to fscb.com to download an application.


4. Deadline: March 15, 2018 . MFA Foundation Scholarship . Applicant’s interest in furthering his/her
education by engaging in studies relating to agriculture or other fields of study that benefit rural life;
applicant’s reputation for good citizenship and good moral character; leadership in school, church or
community activities; financial need, sources of income and willingness to work and satisfactory
academic progress. Applications are located outside the counselor’s office.


5. Deadline: March 15, 2018 . Charles E. Kruse Agricultural Scholarship . Applicants must be Missouri
residents and they, their parents, or guardians must hold a current Farm Bureau membership in
Missouri. Student must be declaring a major in the agriculture field. Applications are available outside
the counselor’s office.


6. Deadline: March 15, 2018 . Horatio Alger State Scholarship. For high school seniors who have a 2.0 GPA
and have faced and overcome great obstacles in their life. Must demonstrate critical financial need. For

7. Application Opens: March 15, 2018 . Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship . For high
school seniors who are enrolled in a career or technical degree/certificate granting program in Fall 2017
that will lead to employment. Student must demonstrate financial need; applicants must be Pell Grant
eligible. Apply online at:

8. Deadline: March 16, 2018 . Kiwanis Club of Sikeston, Missouri. For a Sikeston High School senior who
will be enrolled full time in a college or university. The scholarship is granted based upon financial need
and scholastic ability. Applications are outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


9. Deadline: March 23, 2018 . Midwest Affordable Housing Educational Opportunities . They are providing
six $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in Affordable Housing Developments or
Public Housing Authorities and plan to attend a community college, a four year college/university or
qualified vocational/technical school. Must have a 2.75 GPA. Applications can be found outside the
counselor’s office.


10. Deadline: March 26, 2018 . Bob Depro Scholarship Application. For SHS graduating seniors who will be
enrolled full time in a college or university. Applicants must be of good moral character, have a need for
financial assistance, have completed a minimum of 50 service hours, and have demonstrated scholastic
ability. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


11. Deadline: March 29, 2018 . Sikeston Bulldog Booster Club Scholarship . Must be accepted at a college or
junior college and participate in high school sport or activity. Applications are available outside the
counselor’s office and it is fillable.


12. Deadline: March 30, 2018 . Hispanic Scholarship Fund . Must be of Hispanic heritage, be a legal
permanent resident or US citizen, minimum 3.0 GPA, must be dependent of AT & T employee. Apply

13. Deadline: March 31, 2018 . Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship. For graduating seniors at SHS. For
any accredited college or university and any course of study you desire to pursue leading to an academic
degree. Applications are outside the counselor’s office.


14. Deadline: March 31, 2018 . Southeast Missouri Central Labor Council Scholarship . Multiple $500
scholarships will be given to graduating seniors from the area. Must have a C average and complete the
essay. Applications are located outside the counselor’s office.


15. Deadline: March 31, 2018 . Missouri Insurance Education Foundation Scholarship for High School
Seniors. Applicant must be a Missouri resident, graduating high school seniors interested in or intending
to pursue an insurance, risk management or actuarial science course of study in a Missouri college or
university. Application can be found online at www.mief.org or outside the counselor’s office.


16. Deadline: March 31, 2018 . Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Vocational Scholarship .
Four $500 scholarship to students pursuing appropriate certification in fields related to and supportive
of agriculture. They, their parents, or guardians must hold a current Farm Bureau membership.

17. Deadline: March 31, 2018 . Lighthouse Guild Scholarship Program. For college bound high school and
graduate students who are legally blind. Apply online at lighthouseguild.org/scholarships .


18. Deadline: March 31, 2018 . The Masonic Scholarship Fund of Missouri, Inc . One application for 3
separate scholarships. The application is located outside the counselor’s office.
a. Masonic Merit Scholarship A $1,000/year scholarship available to students in any degree
program.
b. Ruth Lutes Bachmann Scholarship A $1,000/year scholarship for students seeking a degree in
the education or healthcare fields.
c. Samuel Smith Stewart Masonic Scholarship A $10,000/year scholarship available to students in
any degree program.

April

1. Deadline: April 1, 2018 . Scott County Farm Bureau Scholarship. $500 award for tuition, fees, book
supplies, and equipment required for the course(s) of agricultural pursuits or other trades and
professions necessary to the rural community. The scholarship is to be used to enter a post-secondary
training (college or vocational training). Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


2. Deadline: April 1, 2018 . Scott County Women in Agriculture Scholarship . $750 scholarship to a male or
female student whose parents or grandparents must be involved or have been involved in farming or
agribusiness in Scott County, Missouri. Applications can be found outside the counselor’s office.


3. Deadline: April 2, 2018 . Sikeston Public Schools Credit Union Scholarship . Award is $4000 (8 semesters
at $500 each) to a high school student who plans to continue his or her education. Application must be
turned in to the SPS Credit Union or Mrs. Thornbrough’s office on or before April 2nd. Applications are
available outside the counselor’s office.


4. Deadline: April 2, 2018 . Walmart Dependent Scholarship. For students who are dependent of Wal-Mart
employees, minimum 2.0 GPA. Apply online at http://programs.applyists.com/walmartdependent/ .
5. Deadline: April 4, 2018 . Sikeston High School FCA Scholarship. For seniors who are actively involved in
FCA and attend at least 50% of the monthly meetings. In addition, students must agree to uphold the
values and beliefs associated with FCA, and sign the Statement of Faith. Applications are available
outside the counselor’s office.


6. Deadline: April 6, 2018. H. Garwood Sharp, Jr. and Ruth Felker Sharp Scholarship. To provide assistance
to a SHS seniors desiring to attend a college, university, or technical school. Applications are available
outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


7. Deadline: April 6, 2018 . Lions Club of Sikeston, Missouri Frank Ferrell Memorial Scholarship. The
Sikeston Lions Frank Ferrell Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a SHS graduating senior who
will be enrolled full time in a college or university. The scholarship is granted based on financial need
and scholastic ability.


8. Deadline: April 6, 2018 . Paul and Regina Meyer Scholarship Trust . For Sikeston High School graduates
who will be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at any accredited college or university in
Missouri. Scholarships will be awarded with preference to financial need then scholastic ability. The
recipient must be of good moral character. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Applications are
available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


9. Deadline: April 6, 2018 . Joseph J. Mayer Education Trust . For Sikeston High School seniors who plan to
attend a college or technical school. Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, good
character, talents and test scores. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office or it is a
fillable application on your ipad.


10. Deadline: April 6, 2018 . Imogene Ruth Albritton Mayer Education Trust . For Sikeston High School
seniors who plan to attend a college or technical school in Missouri. Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA,
demonstrate financial need, good character, talents and test scores. Applications are available outside
the counselor’s office or it is a fillable application on your ipad.


11. Deadline: April 6, 2018 . American Legion Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship . Award is based on
athletic, scholastic and leadership abilities. The nominee should be deeply involved in community and
school activities. Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army,
Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. Only one student from our high school can be selected.
Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


12. Deadline: April 6, 2018 . Sikeston Community Teachers Association . Applicants must be a SHS Senior
who plans to major in Education, must have 3.0 GPA or higher, supply an ACT score, class rank and good
character. Applications are located outside the counselor’s office and it is also fillable.


13. Deadline: April 9, 2018 . Legacy Scholarship . To qualify and apply, you must be a current high school
senior and/or accepted at or attending an institution of higher education. You must also answer YES to
the following 2 statements: a legal parent died while serving on active duty on or after 9/11/01 or a legal
parent is a Post-9/11 veteran of the U.S. military who has been given a disability rating of 50% of higher

14. Deadline: April 13, 2018. Mary Margaret Story Yarbrough Memorial Scholarship . Must be a graduating
senior girl at SHS, must have participated in school sports, be a good citizen, and have a B average.
Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


15. Deadline: April 13, 2018 . Friends of the Program . Applicant must be a graduation senior with at least a
2.0 GPA, must be an athlete, or member of an athletic team, must be accepted by or enrolled full time in
a college or university, display good character. A character reference letter is needed. Financial need will
be considered. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.
16. Deadline: April 13, 2018 . Matt Barnes Memorial Scholarship . For students accepted for enrollment and
who will be in regular full-time attendance at a public college or university. Award is $500. Applications
are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


17. Deadline: April 13, 2018 . Bruce Hampton Memorial Scholarship . For students accepted for enrollment
and who will be in regular full-time attendance at a public college or university located in the state of
Missouri. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


18. Deadline: April 13, 2018 . Daughters of Sunset Scholarship . Must be a Sikeston High School senior.
Applications are located outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.


19. Deadline: April 14, 2018 . Sikeston Rotary Club “Service Above Self” Scholarship . The rotary club will be
awarding two awards in the amount of $2500 to two graduating seniors (one male, one female). Criteria
for the award: “Service Above Self” in accordance with the rotary motto, academic achievement,
excellence in extra-curricular activities, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or
administrator. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


20. Deadline: April 16, 2018 . 2018 Ava’s Grace Scholarship Foundation Application. This scholarship
benefits students who have or have had an incarcerated parent or primary caregiver. Visit avasgrace.org

21. Deadline: April 20, 2018 . Kim Maclin Memorial Scholarship . For Sikeston High School seniors who plan
on attending an accredited college, university, trade or technical school. Must have a 3.0 GPA.
Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is also fillable.


22. Deadline: April 20, 2018 . FTA Cadet Teacher of the Year. For seniors who have completed Cadet
Teaching course during this school year. The FTA chapter may nominate only one student from our
school. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


23. Deadline: April 20, 2018 . American Legion Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship . Must be a member
of the American Legion Family, i.e., Legion Member, Auxiliary member, S.A.L. Member, or a descendant
or any member thereof. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


24. Deadline: April 20, 2018 . American Legion Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship . Must be planning on
majoring in education. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the
Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the
counselor’s office.


25. Deadline: April 20. 2018 . American Legion Joseph J. Frank Scholarship . Must have attended a full
session of Missouri Boys/Girls State, must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on
active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are
available outside the counselor’s office.


26. Deadline: April 20, 2018 . American Legion Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund . Must have attended
Missouri Boys or Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy. Must be the descendent of a veteran
having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the
U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


27. Deadline: April 20, 2018 . American Legion M.D. Jack Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund . Must be
planning on a career as a Registered Nurse and must have graduated in the top forty percent of their
high school class. Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army,
Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.


28. Deadline: April 22, 2018 . 2017 Student-View Scholarship Program . $11,000 in scholarships to high
school seniors who plan to attend a four year college, community/junior college or career school. Simply
log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your
area.

 

May

1. Deadline: May 15, 2018 . MLBCF Scholarship . Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Foundation sponsors
three scholarships to assist African American students who are graduating from high school and going to
enroll as an undergraduate student at a college/university in the fall 2017. There are 3 different
scholarships you can apply for: DeVerne Calloway, Lucile Bluford Journalism (must declare journalism as
your major), and the Curls-Carter Scholarship. Applications can be found online at: www.mlbcf.org .

 

2. Deadline: May 22, 2018 . B. Davis Scholarship. The creators of the Student Award Search Aid website are
offering a scholarship for 2018. Visit a website at

June

1. Deadline: June 1, 2018 . Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship. From the Alpha Gamma Sigma
Fraternity-Beta Chapter at Mizzou. For senior boys who are considering attending Mizzou, apply online

2. Deadline: June 14, 2018 . Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program . Award is $1000. Students must
submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of the website:

3. Deadline: June 15, 2018 . Sons of the American Legion Detachment of Missouri American Legion,
William Basey Memorial Scholarship. Strong academic record and test scores, financial need, and
leadership involvement, must enroll with a minimum of twelve semesters credit or its equivalent.
Application is available outside the counselor’s office.
