Darren Steelman graduated from Rolla High School in 1991. He then attended Southeast Missouri State Univesity (now called Missouri State University) and majored in Music Education. While there he was a member of, and played the trumpet for the Pride Marching Band, The Wind Ensemble, The Concert Band, The Symphonic Orchestra, The Lab Band and the Basketball Band. He began working on his Masters of Music from Murray State University in 2000.
Darren Steelman recieved his Bachelor of Music Education from Missouri State University in 1996. He recieved his Masters of Music in Education degree from Murray State University in 2005.
Darren Steelman teaches band at Sikeston High School and Sikeston Junior High School. He teaches the High School Marching Bulldogs, the High School Jazz Band, the High School Symphonic Band and assists with the High School Concert Band. He also teaches all brass and percussion classes at the Junior High School.
After graduating from college in 1996 Darren Steelman began teaching band at Portageville High School and Middle School. Then in 1999 he began teaching band at New Madrid County Central High School and Junior High. In 2002 he began at his currrent position at Sikeston High School and Junior High School.
Darren Steelman married his wife Jennifer in December of 1996. She is a Speech Language Pathologist at Restart / Missouri Delta Medical Center. He has three children; Benjamin, Seth an Abbie. Benjamin is involved swimming and is a member of River City Aquatics Swim Team in Cape Girardeau and the Cape Central Swim Team. He also plays the trumpet in band. Seth is a 2nd Degree Blackbelt in Taekwondo at Peak Performance. He competes with the War Eagles of Peak Performance and is a National Team Member for NASTA (North American Sport Taekwondo Association). He also plays the trombone in the Sikeston High School Band. Abbie is involved in dance at Melissa’s School of Dance.
