...More heavy rainfall forecast this week... The first round of moderate to heavy rainfall will be from tonight through Wednesday, mainly across west Kentucky into southeast Missouri. Anywhere from just under 2 inches to nearly 3 inches of rain is forecast to fall on already saturated grounds. We may see another round of heavy rainfall late in the work week and into the weekend. Another 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is possible, with the heaviest rain expected over southeast Missouri, west Kentucky and far southern Illinois. Given all the rain we have received recently, it will not take long for the rain to run off already nearly saturated ground. This will no doubt stress the already swollen and slow to recover creeks, streams, rivers, and their tributaries, many of which will be remaining in flood this week. Plan and be prepared for this upcoming wet period, and heed all flood signs and warnings if and when they are posted.
