Campus Choir lesson plans

This class consists mostly of freshmen and sphomore students. Most of the students have been in choir before at the junior high and fifth and sixth grade center. However, for some it may be their first time to participate in an ensemble such as this. We will be learning and performing a variety of music in this class, and we will perfomr three concerts in our field house throughout the year.

Students in this class will also perform at the district musicl large ensemble festival in March. They will have the opportunity to perform solos and small ensembles for the district music dfestival as well if they choose. Many students have also expressed an interes in auditionaing for the freshmen/sophomore all-district choir in Semptember. Those chosen for this ensemble will rehearse with students from other schools throughout our district and perform a concert on the river campus at SEMO In November. 

In addition to preparing for an participating in performances, students in this class will also learn basic music theory and sight-singing skills to build their personal musicianship. 

The students are also excited about theopportunity to earn letters for choir this year. Students may participate in a variety of activities to earn points towards their choir letters. These activities may include:


  • singing the national anthem as part of a small group at home basketball games
  • auditioning for all-district choir
  • performing a solo or a small ensemble piece at the district and/or state music festival
  • helping file music in the choral library
  • other opportunities as they occur
