 Sikeston Senior High School Scholarship List

 

March​

  1. Deadline: March 1, 2024. Kiwanis Club of Sikeston, Missouri. For a Sikeston High School senior who will be enrolled full time in a college or university. The scholarship is granted based upon financial need and scholastic ability. Applications are outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.

  2. Deadline: March 1, 2024. Project 21 Scholarship. Students are required to disseminate a message by writing an article or creating a poster or video addressing the issue of underage gambling. The application can be found outside the counselor’s office.

  3. Deadline: March 1, 2024. Hagan Scholarship- Spring Application. Must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, plan to enroll in an eligible four year not for profit college or university, adjusted gross income must be reported on 2022 Federal Income Tax Purposes and must not have exceeded $100,000.   4. Deadline: March 1, 2024. USDA Scholars Program. For students seeking a bachelor’s degree at an eligible 1890 and 1994 Land Grant Universities in the field of agriculture, food natural resource sciences or other related.   5. Deadline: March 1, 2024. 2024 Missouri Bankers Foundation Scholarship. The applicant must be planning on a major in an area that will lead to a career in banking.   6. Deadline: March 1, 2024. FCS Financial Scholarship. For Missouri high school seniors whose parents or grandparents are customers of FCS Financial. More information and the application can be found online at www.myfcsfinancial.com and then click on the About US at the top of the web page.

  7. Deadline: March 1, 2024. The Masonic Scholarship Fund of Missouri, Inc.  One application for 3 separate scholarships.  The application is located outside the counselor’s office or online at http://momason.org/scholarships/

  1. Masonic Merit Scholarship A $1,000/year scholarship available to students in any degree program.

  1. Ruth Lutes Bachmann Scholarship A $1,000/year scholarship for students seeking a degree in the education or healthcare fields.

  2. Samuel Smith Stewart Masonic Scholarship A $10,000/year scholarship available to students in any degree program.

  1. Deadline: March 4, 2024. National Stars and Stripes Museum/Library Scholarship. Applicants must be a high school senior, must have plans to study history, journalism, education or a related field at an accredited college or university during the 2023-2024 school year, and must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  2. Deadline: March 6, 2024. Southeast Missouri Superintendents Association Scholarship Application. Award is $750.  For high school seniors enrolled in a school district that is a member of the Southeast Missouri Superintendents Association. Must be planning to enroll in an undergraduate program for the upcoming fall semester as a first year freshman. Must intend to teach K-12 upon completion of an undergraduate program. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  3. Deadline: March 8, 2024. Scholarships for Survivors. This is a group of scholarships for current patients or survivors of cancer or another life-threatening disease, 2 recommendations, transcripts needed, and an essay. Application can be found at http://www.patientadvocate.org/index.php?p=69.

  4. Deadline: March 9, 2024. Missouri Women’s Golf Education Association Scholarship. Open to all female Missouri residents. Scholarships are given in recognition of her overall academic record, community service activities, leadership, and golf experience.   5. Deadline: March 10, 2024. Bill Ruby, Sr. Heartland Wrestling Scholarship. For seniors who have competed on the high school wrestling team for 4 years and served a role with the Sikeston Wrestling Club. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  6. Deadline: March 13, 2024. Bob Depro Scholarship. For SHS seniors who will be enrolled full time in an accredited college,university, or technical school. Applicants must be of good moral character, have a need for financial assistance, have completed a minimum of 50 service hours and have demonstrated scholastic ability. Applications can be found outside the counselor’s office.

  7. Deadline: March 15, 2024. Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship. Must be a graduating high school senior enrolling in geology, geophysics, physics, chemical, civil, electrical, geological, geophysical, mechanical or petroleum engineering. Upon successful completion of first year studies and other criteria established by Shell, the recipient may be eligible to apply to receive a four-year renewable award of $5,000 annually.   8. Deadline: March 15, 2024. Southeast Region Student Scholarship. For seniors who are members of the SHS FTA. Must be enrolled as a full-time student at a Missouri College or university in the fall. Applications can be found online at: https://msta.org/Regions/Southeast-Region/SE-STudent-Scholarship

  9. Deadline: March 15, 2024. MAMIC Scholarship.  The Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies is awarding 24-$1000 scholarships to Missouri high school seniors. Applicant must be accepted by an accredited college, university, community college or vocational school within the state of Missouri. Consideration will be given to need, grades, activities, and essay. Applications are available online at: https://www.mamic.net/scholarships/

  10. Deadline: March 15, 2024. Charles E. Kruse Agricultural Scholarship. Applicants must be Missouri residents and they, their parents, or guardians must hold a current Farm Bureau membership in Missouri. Student must be declaring a major in the agriculture field.   11. Deadline: March 15, 2024. 2024 Horatio Alger Scholarship. For high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their life. Must be planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree, demonstrate financial need, be involved, and have a 2.0 GPA or higher. There are multiple scholarships to apply for.   12. Deadline: March 17, 2024. SEMO Area Unit Retired Teachers and School Personnel Scholarship. Award is $500. Must be a graduation senior from Scott, Mississippi or New Madrid counties pursuing an undergraduate degree in education. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  13. Deadline: March 18, 2024. MOACAC Braxton Rethwisch Scholarship. The Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling (MOACAC) offers this scholarship to high school seniors who have a 2.5 GPA or higher and must be enrolled as a full-time student at a MOACAC member postsecondary institutions.   14. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Daughters of Sunset Scholarship. Must be a Sikeston High School senior who has been accepted/enrolled in a college/university, must enroll as a full time student with 12 hours or more,  and must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Applications are located outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.

  15. Deadline: March 20, 2024. The Belinda G. Parks Family Foundation Scholarship. For senior girls at SHS who have participated in school activities, and must have a B average. Applications are outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.

  16. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Mary Margaret Story Yarbrough Memorial Scholarship. Must be a graduating senior girl at SHS, must have participated in school sports, be a good citizen, and have a B average. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable. 

  17. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Paul and Regina Meyer Scholarship Trust. For Sikeston High School graduates who will be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at any accredited college or university in Missouri. Scholarships will be awarded with preference to financial need then scholastic ability. The recipient must be of good moral character. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable. 

  18. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Joseph J. Mayer Education Trust. For Sikeston High School seniors who plan to attend a college or technical school. Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, good character, talents and test scores. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office or it is a fillable application on your ipad. 

  19. Deadline:March 20, 2024. Imogene Ruth Albritton Mayer Education Trust. For Sikeston High School seniors who plan to attend a college or technical school in Missouri. Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, good character, talents and test scores. 

  1. Deadline: March 20, 2024. H. Garwood Sharp, Jr. and Ruth Felker Sharp Scholarship. To provide assistance to a SHS seniors desiring to attend a college, university, or technical school. This year the award will be given to 4 applicants for $1500 each. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.

  2. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Lions Club of Sikeston, Missouri Frank Ferrell Memorial Scholarship. The Sikeston Lions Frank Ferrell Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a SHS graduating senior who will be enrolled full time in a college, university, community college or trade school. The scholarship is granted based on financial need and scholastic ability. Application is available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable. 

  3. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Karen Akins Memorial Scholarship. For seniors who are planning to pursue a degree in Education, must have 3.0 GPA or higher. Applications are outside the counselor's office.

  4. Deadline: March 22, 2024. Women Legislators of Missouri Scholarship. For female students who are planning to attend college, this scholarship is based on leadership, academics and community service. A 500 work essay is required answering the question, ‘If you were a state legislator, what would you hope to accomplish and why?” A link to download the scholarship is located online at My Scholarship Central or go to:  http://bit.ly/molegwomen

  5. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Matt Barnes Memorial Scholarship. For students accepted for enrollment and who will be in regular full-time attendance at a public college or university. Award is $500. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable. 

  6. Deadline: March 20, 2024. Bruce Hampton Memorial Scholarship. For students accepted for enrollment and who will be in regular full-time attendance at a public college or university located in the state of Missouri. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office and it is fillable.

  7. Deadline: March 22, 2024. Women Legislators of Missouri Scholarship. For female students who are planning to attend college, this scholarship is based on leadership, academics and community service.   8. Deadline: March 22, 2024. VFW Post 3174 Scholarship. A $500 scholarship that is renewable for 4 years. For deserving high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited college, university, technical, or trade school. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office or it is fillable. 

  9. Deadline: March 22, 2024. Sikeston Rotary Club “Service Above Self” Scholarship. The rotary club will be awarding two awards in the amount of $2500 to two graduating seniors. Criteria for the award: “Service Above Self” in accordance with the rotary motto, academic achievement, excellence in extra-curricular activities, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or administrator. All graduating SHS students that are active members of the Rotary Interact Club are eligible for the award. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  10. Deadline: March 24, 2024. Community Foundation of the Ozarks Scholarships. There are several scholarships listed on their website that you can apply for. The application opens on January 1st.   11. Deadline: March 25, 2024. Robert Earl Reedy Jr. Transportation Scholarship. For SHS seniors who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, must be planning on attending a four year college or university and seeking a degree in the field of education or music studies. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  12. Deadline: March 26, 2024. Vaughn Investments & Properties Scholarship. For SHS seniors who are pursuing a continued education in a trade/technical school. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office or it is fillable. 

  13. Deadline: March 26, 2024. Sikeston Community Teachers Association. Applicants must be a SHS Senior who plans to major in Education, must have 3.0 GPA or higher, supply an ACT score, and good character. Applications are located outside the counselor’s office and it is also fillable.

  14. Deadline: March 26, 2024. SHS FCA Scholarship. For students who have been actively involved with FCA and attend at least 50% of the monthly meetings (two times a month). In addition, students must agree to uphold the values and beliefs associated with FCA. Applications are available outside the counselors office. 

  15. Deadline: March 27, 2024. Legacy Scholarship. To qualify and apply, you must be a current high school senior and/or accepted at or attending an institution of higher education. You must also answer YES to the following 2 statements: a legal parent died while serving on active duty on or after 9/11/01 or a legal parent is a Post-9/11 veteran of the U.S. military who has been given a disability rating of 50% of higher  by the Veterans Administration.   16. Deadline: March 29, 2024. Kevin Miller Memorial SPS Credit Union Scholarship. Applicants must be a member or dependent of a member of the Sikeston Public Schools Credit Union, be a graduating senior pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution of higher learning or accredited technical school as a full-time student, displayed good personal character, and a 3.0 GPA. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  17. Deadline: March 31, 2024. Sikeston R-6 Grow Your Own Teacher “Murray Sullivan Scholarship” . 2) $500 renewable scholarships. Requirements to apply: Must be a Sikeston High School senior, Must be a member of the Grow Your Own Teachers program, Must be planning to enroll full time in an undergraduate program for the upcoming fall semester and major in education, and Must intend to teach pre-k through 12 upon completion of an undergraduate program. Application available on Grow Your Own Teachers Google Classroom and e-mail.  Must be submitted by March 31st.

  19. Deadline: March 31, 2024. MAHEO Scholarship. For high school seniors who are residing in Affordable Housing Developments or Public Housing Authorities. There are 5-$4,000 scholarships available. Must have a 2.75 GPA. Applications are available outside the counselors office. 

  20. Deadline: March 31, 2024. Lighthouse Guild Scholarship Program. For college bound high school and graduate students who are legally blind. Apply online at lighthouseguild.org/scholarships

  21. Deadline: March 31, 2024. Farm Credit SEMO Scholarship. Farm Credit SEMO is offering $1000 scholarships to high school graduates who plan to major and pursue a career in agriculture. They must reside in a county where Farm Credit SEMO operates. The application can be found online at: https://www.farmcreditsemo.com/scholarship-program.html.

April

  1. Deadline: April 1, 2024. Southeast MIssouri LASE Scholarship. For students who are pursuing a degree in the area of Special Education. The award will be $500. Applications are available outside the counselor's office. Applications must be emailed to the person listed on the application.

  2. Deadline: April 1, 2024. Highway Hero Honoree Scholarship. For seniors graduating in 2023. Applicants must be a Highway Crossroads Credit Union member. Students or parents can all apply for membership, the application is simple, look on their website. Once membership is established, you can apply for this scholarship. This is a $10,000 scholarship.   3. Deadline: April 1, 2024. Access Extra Scholarship. This is a $2000 scholarship, renewable for 4 years. Must have a Student Aid Index (FAFSA) of 12,000 or less and earned a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher. Must plan on attending a Missouri public or private college/university. 

  4. Deadline: April 5, 2024. American Legion Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship. Award is based on athletic, scholastic and leadership abilities.  The nominee should be deeply involved in community and school activities. Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard.  Only one student from our high school can be selected. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  5. Deadline: April 7, 2024. Youth Empowerment 573 Scholarship. Award is $500, must be a first-generation student, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and write a minimum 250-word  essay. Application can be found online: https://forms.gle/tQFg3ngiByZbS3ic9.

  6. Deadline: April 13, 2024. Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship. The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a one-time $2,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability (LD) and/or ADHD who will be enrolled in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD and/or ADHD in the fall.   7. Deadline: April 13, 2024. Anne Ford Scholarship. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and a documentation of an identified learning disability and ADHD.   9. Deadline: April 15, 2024. Insuring Rural Communities Scholarship. Must be planning to enroll in a certificate program, associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at an accredited, non-profit college or university. Must be pursuing a course of study in information technology, healthcare, or risk management. Must demonstrate a significant financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Must have a 2.0 GPA.   10. Deadline:  April 20, 2024.  American Legion Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship. Must be a member of the American Legion Family, i.e., Legion Member, Auxiliary member, S.A.L. Member, or a descendant or any member thereof.  Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  11. Deadline: April 20, 2024. American Legion Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship. Must be planning on majoring in education. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  12. Deadline: April 20. 2024. American Legion Joseph J. Frank Scholarship. Must have attended a full session of Missouri Boys/Girls State, must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  13. Deadline: April 20, 2024. American Legion Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund. Must have attended Missouri Boys or Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the U.S. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.

  14. Deadline:  April 20, 2024. American Legion M.D. Jack Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund. Must be planning on a career as a Registered Nurse and must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class. Must be a descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  15. Deadline: April 20, 2024. Missouri Detachment, Sons of the American Legion Scholarship. One award of $500 is given annually to a student who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion or of the Junior Auxiliary of The American Legion. The student must complete an essay on the topic “What being a member of the American Legion Family means to me.” Applications are available outside the counselor’s office. 

  16. Deadline: April 23, 2024. 2024 Student-View Scholarship Program. $11,000 in scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four year college, community/junior college or career school. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. 

May

  1. Deadline: May 10, 2024. Juneteenth Scholarship -  Must be a graduating, minority high school senior, plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution. Application is available online: https://forms.gle/7DkEzZwFQggz9XGA9.

  2. Deadline: May 15, 2024. rootED Undergraduate Scholarship.This is a renewable scholarship. It is a need-based award of up to $12,000 per academic year. To be eligible must have a 2.0 GPA and have financial need, and must be planning to enroll in a bachelor’s degree-granting program at an accredited college or university.   1. Deadline: June 1, 2024. Visionary Scholarship. 5 awards are given. Awards range from $1000 to $2500 each. Applications are online at: https://americancollegefoundation.org/.
  2. Deadline: June 16, 2024. Rayni Worley Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is for students who plan to attend Three Rivers College or Washington University and plan to go into the nursing/medical field. Applications are available outside the counselor’s office.
